Acute Ischemic Stroke : 71-Year-Old Female

Case Study : Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke via Mechanical Thrombectomy
Patient Profile : 71-year-old female Underlying Condition: Hypertension
Diagnostic Findings
Pre-hospital Symptoms : Initial assessment revealed that at 2:30 PM, while walking to the restroom, the patient experienced a sudden onset of the following symptoms:
Left-sided weakness in the arm and leg
Facial droop
Slurred speech (Dysarthria)
Left-sided numbness
The patient's relatives immediately brought her to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Symptoms upon Arrival at the Hospital :
Fully conscious, able to converse and follow commands
Normal motor strength in the right arm and leg
Left-sided weakness in the arm and leg
Left facial droop
Slurred speech
Decreased sensation on the left side
Cardiac examination revealed bradycardia (slower-than-normal heart rate) but remained hemodynamically stable
Brain Imaging Results :
CT Brain : Revealed cerebral ischemia caused by a right cerebral artery occlusion. The physician subsequently planned the administration of intravenous thrombolytic therapy (clot-dissolving medication) and further cerebrovascular imaging to urgently evaluate the treatment protocol.
Treatment: The physician performed a mechanical thrombectomy via catheterization to clear the occluded blood vessel and restore adequate blood flow to the brain.
Treatment Outcome : A right cerebral artery occlusion was identified. A red clot was successfully extracted, effectively recanalizing the blood vessel and restoring normal cerebral blood flow.
Treatment Conclusion : Successful procedural outcome.
Under the Care of an Experienced Medical Team : The patient was treated by a team of highly experienced physicians specializing in stroke and endovascular procedures from the Safe Heart and Stroke Center, Chaiyaphum Hospital.
Fast Recognition and Treatment Reduce Stroke-Related Disabilities : If you observe sudden symptoms such as facial drooping, limb weakness, slurred speech, inability to speak, or any sudden neurological abnormalities, please seek immediate medical attention at a hospital. In stroke care, "Time is of the essence."
