An ICD is an implantable device that continuously monitors the heart's electrical activity.If a life-threatening arrhythmia is detected, the device immediately delivers electrical therapy to restore a normal heartbeat.It is used to prevent sudden cardiac death caused by dangerous ventricular arrhythmias. The device can also provide pacing support for patients with slow heart rhythms.
