A Case of Acute Ischemic Stroke Treatment

A Case Study of Acute Ischemic Stroke Treatment
Using Mechanical Thrombectomy
Patient: Female, 42 years old
The patient presented with drowsiness but remained conscious. She was unable to communicate verbally and experienced weakness and paralysis of the left arm and leg. These are significant symptoms that require immediate assessment and urgent treatment.
Diagnostic Findings
Following a comprehensive evaluation, the following findings were identified:
Blood clots were found obstructing the right cerebral blood vessel, along with occlusion of a major blood vessel in the neck and the left cerebral blood vessel.
After careful evaluation, the stroke specialist team determined that the patient was an appropriate candidate for Mechanical Thrombectomy, a procedure used to remove blood clots from cerebral blood vessels.
Treatment
The medical team performed Mechanical Thrombectomy through a catheter-based procedure to remove the blood clot, restore the blocked blood vessel, and improve blood flow to the brain.
Treatment Outcome
The procedure successfully removed a white blood clot (White Clot), helping to restore blood circulation to the affected area of the brain.
Treatment for acute ischemic stroke is a race against time, as every minute of delay may result in further loss of brain tissue.
Care by an Experienced Medical Team
The patient was treated by an experienced team specializing in stroke care and catheter-based interventions from the SafeHeart Cardiac and Stroke Coordination Center at Chaiyaphum Hospital.
Early Recognition and Prompt Treatment Can Help Reduce Stroke-Related Disability
If you experience sudden symptoms such as facial drooping, weakness or numbness in the arms or legs, slurred speech, inability to speak, or other sudden neurological abnormalities, seek medical attention immediately.
In stroke, every second counts.
